Coercion is the main Billy Club of the authoritarians and they wield it gleefully and openly.
The problem, of course, is that the people drawn to that line of work are virtually all exceptionally untalented and unskilled in real-world skills.
The ‘prediction’ is very easy to make; they will end up destroying prosperity and creating widespread poverty. The more they administrate and the longer they are in power, the worse things will get.
In the US, the checks and balances that kept things roughly glued together for two centuries are missing in action. The judiciary is either obviously corrupt or openly complicit, the so-called representatives routinely disdain the will of the people, and the executive branch is actively participating in the destruction of the US.
So where to turn?
