All the news that you might have missed…let’s dive in…
Tax The Rich! Tax The Rich!
I’m not sure when this happened, but a significant number of people are openly socialist, and they are feeling their oats, as they used to say.
This is deeply concerning, as this path has a perfectly dismal record:
🚨 BREAKING: New York Governor Kathy Hochul is on stage alongside Zohran Mamdani and the crowd is erupting with chants of “TAX THE RICH! TAX THE RICH!”It’s not just a rally anymore, it’s a political earthquake. The Democratic establishment is finally standing face-to-face with… pic.twitter.com/E9b9OacSCI

What’s concerning is that the “free shit” mentality is great at stoking the class warfare, and will certainly find fertile ground among all the people being ground down daily by all the money printing and government deficit spending, but it entirely misdiagnoses the root causes.
It should be noted that the top 1% already pay more than half of all taxes:

So maybe we don’t have a tax problem, but a spending problem?
If NYC elects Mamdani, we can probably expect the exodus of the rich from NY to pick up its pace:
$14B in income vanishes from NYC as 125K residents flee for Florida… and the lunatic leftists destroying NY could not care less.@GovKathyHochul maybe ask Florida for a finders fee or something…. It might help your ridiculous budget look better. https://t.co/elZf4HaV5j

Grok agrees that the risks to NYC are heavily tilted to the downside:

But one benefit is that we get treated to these glorious Soviet era propaganda posters, which I find I have some nostalgia for:
.@ZohranKMamdani will not run a top-down, billionaire-funded mayoral administration. He will be a champion for the working people of NY. Zohran, @AOC and I will be holding a rally in Queens next weekend to say clearly: NEW YORK IS NOT FOR SALE. I hope to see you there. pic.twitter.com/bfMeUYr4ro

Of course, Bernie and AOC are all in on the “soak the rich” angle, as it represents the venalest form of political appeal.
We’re at stage 13, seeking to transition back to 14 asap.

I Don’t Believe You
The US military is claiming that it lost two aircraft for entirely unrelated and non-hostile reasons within a half hour of each other somewhere in
