What a huge weekend, a long weekend, packed with too many news items to shake a stick at.  So here I am, shaking a dust mop at it all, and still coming up short.

AI Is The Story

Every generation has its “existential threat” that somehow magically serves to make the current people in power vitally important to keeping the nation safe.  There was the Red Scare, the Missile Gap, The Bomber Gap, and so on.  But, once the dust settles, you might notice that those same people magically became super wealthy and most of those ‘scares’ turned into fantastic boondoggles, enriching the few while doing squat all for the average person besides stoking never-ending punishing inflation.

Today’s existential boondoggle is AI.

As we’ve been tracking here at Peak Prosperity, by first noticing and alerting everyone to the explosive buildout of Data Centers back in 2024, and then the weird and durable revenues and profits of “the Big 7” and then finally the massive valuations for Nvidia and other AI-adjacent companies (despite no clear go-to-market business plans that could support such valuations), something big is up with AI.

So in last Friday’s scouting report, we opined that perhaps the various weird collapses by people like Dan Bongino, Kash Patel, and Pam Bondi were best understood through a lens of “something really big they have been informed about,” with the top suspect being AI.

Now that’s been confirmed in this Real Clear Politics article:

He worries the free world will lose dominance in the field of artificial intelligence, and with it, the future.

Every day the news convinces me I have made zero over-reactions. Now I’m assessing which of my under-reactions need the most attention first.
