The Spanish Influenza of 1918-1919 had three main waves of infections, as shown by the chart below, Note that it was the second wave, which peaked five months after the first, that was — by far — the most deadly :

At this point, we have no way of knowing for certain whether there will be a 2nd wave for covid-19. Or, if so, how much more/less of a health threat it will pose compared to wave #1.

But given this uncertainty and the high potential downside risks involved, the obvious prudent choice is to start preparing for a serious wave 2 to arrive in later 2020 or early 2021.

Most countries have brought new covid cases down to a fraction of what they were in April/May. And even in countries like the US that are seeing a resurgence of cases in many states, supply chains and the general way of life are working much closer to “normal” than they were weeks back during the height of the pandemic panic.

As we all saw at the onset of Wave 1, many key items (masks, hand sterilizers, meat, etc) immediately go out of stock once the general public suddenly decides it wants them.

A surprising amount of what we published back in February and March remains just as important now as it did then, and we include all of that guidance below (updated where necessary) in order for this report to serve as your family’s all-in-one guide to Wave 2 preparations. We encourage you to share email/print copies with those you care about in order to get
