Another indicator that the cost of basic necessities in life are getting more expensive.

Reflecting economic circumstances for water utilities in countless American cities and towns, single-family residential water prices in 30 major U.S. cities have gone up an average of 7.3 percent during the last year and 17.9 percent since 2010, when Circle of Blue began collecting pricing data. The median increase was 7.8 percent over the last year.

Caution – A Fresnel lens is powerful light-focusing lens that can produce temperatures over 700+ degrees.  Great care must be used when working with these lenses. 

Here is an interesting approach to boiling water for purity and then distilling it to remove salts and other impurities. 

In this video we use a linear Fresnel lens to boil and distill salt water into drinking water. The goal is to use this simple technology to help people who don't have a clean water source, or live near the ocean and need to desalinate water for drinking and cooking.

The garden beds are dug.  The soil has be amended with organic compost and natural fertilizers.  Plants are in and starting to grow.  All they need is the warming rays of the sun and plenty of water.  Ensuring that my plants get enough water while being mindful of water usage in now my main priority.  It is time to install a drip irrigation system for the first time.
