Trump has now backed his administration into a corner. If there’s another suspected poison gas attack in Syria, he’s promised to escalate the situation by "making the Syrian military pay a heavy price."
It appears that what I feared might happen under a Clinton presidency (and I still think probably would have, for what that's worth) is now actually happening under the Trump administration.
Let me be perfectly clear: bombing Syria risks a direct confrontation with Russia. If that happens, all bets are off. Anything could happen next, up to and including a nuclear exchange.
I’ve written about this many times before, such as here and here. You should re-read those reports if you have any doubts about your level of preparedness for an outbreak of war, of any variety (kinetic, cyber, trade, financial, etc.)
Here’s the White House press announcement that has me so alarmed right now:

There are many things that I dispute heavily in this press release. Let’s start with the most obvious: the referred attack on April 4th, 2017 could have been committed by anybody, and the best evidence I’ve seen suggests that it was an unintentional accident of sorts.
