In this week's Off the Cuff podcast, Chris and Brian Pretti discuss:

  • The Return of Volatility
    • Shaping up to be a major theme for 2015
  • The Implications of the End of QE
    • Chris' predicted 3-month delay is arriving now
  • All Eyes on the Fed
    • It's getting nervous (panicked?)
  • How To Position Your Portfolio
    • Prepare for the return of long-absent bargain prices

Finally, volatility is returning to the markets. That's the theme of this week's Off The Cuff.

And this conversation was recorded before this morning's surprise move in the Swiss franc, which sent the market into conniptions. What other huge shocks lie in wait?

Chris and Brian excitedly dig into the recent price gyrations as the infuriating, senseless (and boring!) march ever-higher in asset prices appears to be vaporizing. Perhaps, at long last, reality may actually matter in the price discovery process.

Chris has frequently observed that there's often a 3-month delay between Fed activity and observed impact in the market. If that relationship holds true, then we're at the cusp of seeing what the termination of the QE program will have on financial securities. Logically, they should start falling — which could very well be what we're seeing the start of now.
