This week, Chris and Charles rail against the increasingly widening chasm between the master narrative and the evidence any 4th-grader can see with their own eyes. We are being told/sold "All is great!" when signs of economic moribundity abound. As Charles puts it:
The signals no longer match the narrative: if everything global trade is going so well ,why did one of the largest shipping companies on earth just go bankrupt? Well, we know that the rates they are earning for shipping stuff around the world have been plummeting to where it is not even breakeven anymore. You are losing money shipping stuff because there is no demand for shipping compared to the oversupply of ships that are available. That is another one of those signals that doesn’t align with what the master narrative is saying.
Another rich trove of topics is the unintended consequences of the master narrative playing out like: Let’s just drive interest rates to 0%.
