The corruption on display is the same. The same base human instincts for more – more money, more power, more fame – are resident in all major governmental institutions today as they have always been throughout history. This time? The problems are many, and the predicaments are too many.

Because of these colliding faults and errors, the chances of a hard landing are far higher than the chance of a miraculous soft landing. It simply takes steely resolve and morally crisp leadership dripping with authenticity to navigate the shoals before us. Instead, everywhere we look we find craven bureaucrats lining their own pockets while they can, which robs us of many things but none more important than hope.

Hope that maybe, somehow, ‘they’ will toss aside their grubby greed to rise to the occasion is now all but lost. Hope that somehow things will improve on their own is dashed upon the story of declining net energy.
