Kansas City Metro
Kansas City, a small town masquerading as a big city, is uniquely blessed with fertile soil, a generous growing season, access to key inland waterways (the Kansas and Missouri rivers), and most importanrtly, an innovative, good-natured, hard-working population. The seeds for transition to a reduced-energy future have already been sown through the Made-in-KC movement, local food movement, and numerous community gardens and farmers' markets.
Though much of the arduous task of reversing ingrained habits and upending cultural norms to build a resilient life lies ahead, the journey can be pleasurable in community of friends who share their grit, creativity, and resources to build a prosperous life together.
